Mentoring in the Workplace

Designed for: Any member of the team who is responsible for mentoring others in the context of their performance in the workplace and helping them to learn.
 
Aims: To consider the competences, skills and attributes required by a mentor.
 
Objectives: At the end of the course, delegates will be
able to:

  • Define the role of the mentor in the context of the workplace
  • List the competences, skills and attributes of the mentor
  • Describe the skills required for building rapport
  • Explain how people learn and how to appeal to all learning styles
  • Prepare and rehearse for a mentoring meeting.

Method: Delegates will receive reference material. The emphasis will be on enhanced knowledge, understanding and skills development gained through discussion, exchange of views and practical exercises.
